About

William Gionfriddo, M.D. is the Associate Chief of Cardiac Electrophysiology with Trinity Health Of New England Medical Group in the Department of Cardiology at Saint Francis Hospital.

Dr. Gionfriddo completed his fellowship in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Mass. He also completed a Cardiovascular Disease fellowship and an Internal Medicine residency program at the same institution. Dr. Gionfriddo received his medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, where he earned the Carl F. Hinz, Jr. Award for Excellence in Scholars in Medicine and served as the Student Commencement Speaker in 2014.

In Boston, Dr. Gionfriddo served on the Tufts Cardiovascular Center Fellows Curriculum Committee and was the Tufts Medical Center Cardiovascular Fellow Liaison to the American Heart Association’s Cardiovascular Fellows Society of Greater Boston. He was also a founding member of the Code Curriculum Committee at Tufts. He has worked closely with specialists at the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Institute in Boston to prevent adverse arrhythmia outcomes in this population.

Since joining our team at Saint Francis Hospital, Dr. Gionfriddo continues to provide excellent care for our patients in the field of Cardiac Electrophysiology. He specializes in all aspects of arrhythmia care with a particular focus on ablation of complex atrial and ventricular arrhythmias. Additionally, he is skilled in robotic ablation using Stereotaxis Remote Navigation for ventricular tachycardia management. Proficient in device implantation, he created a successful physiologic pacing program at Saint Francis, and facilitated the implementation of Pulsed Field Ablation technology.

Dr. Gionfriddo is a member of the American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology, and the Heart Rhythm Society.
