Community Benefit

Making a difference in our communities

At Trinity Health Of New England, our mission goes beyond hospitals and clinics—we're dedicated to being a healing presence in the communities we serve. Guided by our core values of reverence, commitment to those in need, safety, justice, stewardship, and integrity, we invest in programs that bring comfort, healing, and hope to underserved and vulnerable populations.

What is Community Benefit and how we identify and address community needs

Community benefit refers to programs and services that:

  • Improve access to healthcare

  • Enhance community health and well-being

  • Advance medical knowledge

  • Support public health efforts

Every three years, we conduct a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) to understand the most pressing health challenges. Using input from data, surveys, and community feedback, we create a plan that focuses on providing impactful programs, setting clear goals, and improving health outcomes for our community.

How We Identify Need and Plan Community Health Programs

To determine areas of greatest need, Trinity Health Of New England hospitals perform a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) every three years. Based on health data, surveys, focus groups, and interviews with community members, the CHNA provides in-depth information about the health status and needs of our community. This information is used to create a Community Health Needs Assessment Implementation Strategy, which outlines programs and services to provide, and specific health improvement goals to meet.
