About
Robert Gallagher, M.D. is board-certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery with Trinity Health Of New England Medical Group – Cardiovascular Services.
Dr. Gallagher earned his medical degree from Medical University of South Carolina and completed a residency in general surgery at Boston University Medical Center and a residency in cardiothoracic surgery at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York. Dr. Gallagher also has extensive fellowship training. He has completed fellowships in critical care medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine, and in general surgery and cardiac surgery at Hartford Hospital. Dr. Gallagher also served as a cardiac transplant fellow at the University of Pittsburgh Presbyterian University Hospital.
Prior to joining Trinity Health Of New England, Dr. Gallagher served as chief of cardiothoracic surgery for Western Connecticut Health Network (WCHN) which includes Danbury Hospital, Norwalk Hospital, and New Milford Hospital.
In addition to serving as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Vermont, Dr. Gallagher has authored numerous clinical publications. He is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the Hartford County Medical Association, the Connecticut State Medical Society, and the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery.
