About
Following medical school, Dr. Risinger completed his General Surgery internship and Orthopedic Surgery residency at the University of Vermont in Burlington. He then completed an advanced Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Risinger is an American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons fellow and a member of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He is actively involved in orthopedic resident teaching. Dr. Risinger is a member of the Connecticut Sports Medicine Institute at Saint Francis Hospital and co-heads the research division. He is also a member of the Connecticut Joint Replacement Institute at Saint Francis Hospital. Dr. Risinger specializes in sports medicine, general orthopedics and fracture care, advanced arthroscopic and open shoulder/knee/elbow/ankle surgery, shoulder and knee reconstruction, and shoulder replacement surgery. Dr. Risinger has been the team physician for Rocky Hill High School since 2016. He was the team physician for University of Rhode Island football and basketball from 2005 through 2011. He is the former assistant to team physicians for the Chicago White Sox professional baseball team during 2004 & 2005, and an assistant to team physicians for the Chicago Bulls professional basketball team during 2004 & 2005.
