WATERBURY, Conn. – Saint Mary’s Hospital welcomed the holiday season with its annual Celebration of Lights, a spectacular tradition that brought together colleagues and community members for an evening of reflection, music, and festive cheer.

Saint Mary's Hospital colleagues came together to watch the annual Celebration of Lights show.

The event began in the Saint Mary’s Chapel, where attendees gathered for a serene opening ceremony. The program featured an opening prayer led by Amy Mikolite, MA, BCC, Manager of Spiritual Care at Saint Mary’s, followed by a thoughtful reflection and a reading from the Gospel of Luke by Judy Bellemere, chaplain at Saint Mary’s Hospital. The chapel was filled with the sounds of the season as Judy Randall, Health Information Management Specialist, performed the classic carol Silent Night, creating a moment of peace and joy for all in attendance.

Adding to the beauty of the evening, S&A Serenades, featuring violinists Amalia Alexander and Sophia Nicoescu, provided both the opening and closing musical selections. Guests enjoyed cookies and hot chocolate, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for the more than 30 colleagues and community members in attendance.

The Celebration of Lights has long been a hallmark of Saint Mary’s Hospital, symbolizing the start of the holiday season and offering an opportunity for reflection and togetherness. The façade of Saint Mary’s Hospital was lit up with dancing lights to the tune of Carol of the Bells. Trees surrounding the hospital were decorated with white lights and an illuminated manger glowed right beside a multicolored Christmas tree. This year’s event continued that tradition, illuminating the spirit of the season and reinforcing the hospital’s commitment to community and connection.
