Transformation that Works
The Connecticut Institute for Primary Care Innovation (CIPCI) is committed to primary care transformation that is palpable and sustainable.
CIPCI was founded as a collaborative enterprise between Saint Francis Hospital and the University of Connecticut School of Medicine with the goal of serving as a resource and conduit for transformation in primary care.
It is important to note that CIPCI does not deliver healthcare services. Rather, it serves as a resource for primary care leadership, education, research, and practice. Through our past projects and The Primary Care Office of the Future, CIPCI models and helps to implement new workflows and technology for primary care transformation.
Our Projects
- The Primary Care Office of the Future: The Primary Care Office of the Future is a hands-on demonstration of new practice designs and technology for primary care transformation. The goal of this project is to expose primary care stakeholders to innovative and pragmatic solutions to improve patient care and provider satisfaction.
- The Office of the Future Student Innovation Workshop: This hands-on workshop helps students see themselves as innovators in primary care, allowing them to experience the concepts of the Office of the Future and then build on them to design innovative practice spaces, workflows, and teams. If you’d like to bring the workshop to your school, click here.
- Anatomy and Physiology of Primary Care | A Clinical Microsystems Approach: This research project helped primary care practices assess and improve their structure and function by documenting processes and patterns within the microsystem. Research was completed at six resident clinics, and five community-based private practices.
- Patient Architects: CIPCI engaged patients from primary care clinics as “architects” to work with primary care practices in redesigning care delivery. True practice innovation can only be achieved if patients are actively engaged in the practice redesign process.
