Neurosurgeon Talent

Our board certified, specially trained neurosurgeons provide high-quality, patient-centered care. And, being part of the Mercy network means your patients’ care will be highly coordinated and clearly communicated to you.

Minimally Invasive Spine Center of New England

The Minimally Invasive Spine Center of New England at Mercy Medical Center offers minimally invasive procedures covering the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. Recently, robotic spinal surgery was added to the center's offerings. Other procedures include artificial disc replacement for cervical herniations, mini-thoracotomy for thoracic disc herniations, approaches to the lumbar spine through a small incision in the flank to treat degenerative scoliosis, and spinal instability or spinal stenosis.

Neurosurgical Inpatient Floor

A 25-bed orthopedic and neurosurgical unit with a dedicated physical therapy gym provides high-quality medical, nursing and rehabilitation care. Because our ultimate goal is to help patients return home as quickly and safely as possible, we also provide a thorough discharge plan and arrange any necessary follow-up care to ensure a successful transition when a patient leaves the hospital.

Mercy's Rehabilitation Services

At our Rehabilitation Services, the region’s only hospital-based rehabilitation facility accredited by CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities), we provide a broad range of outpatient and inpatient therapy to neurosurgical patients, tailored to individual needs and goals. Our Physical Therapy team also cares for patients on our neurosurgical inpatient floor.

Care Coordination

Mercy is distinguished by the highly coordinated care that we provide. If your patient needs to be admitted to Mercy or has surgery at Mercy, a team of doctors, nurses, care coordinators, social workers, therapists and dietary specialists works closely together to provide the most efficient and effective care possible. Importantly, the entire care team meets every morning to review your patient’s treatment plan and progress. The Mercy Neurosurgery Institute team keeps you informed about treatment plans and updated regarding patient progress.
