Internship Opportunities

The Community Health and Well Being Department serves as a bridge between the hospital system and the community to support resident wellbeing; to improve overall community health and to create equitable opportunities for all. The department has staff located in Hartford and Waterbury and Springfield.

The goal of supporting Interns is twofold. We aim to provide a meaningful experience that highlights the importance of health equity. We also aim to support department activities by assigning interns tasks that increase the effectiveness of department activities.

Clinical Internships: The Greater Hartford Family Advocacy Center

The Greater Hartford Family Advocacy Center has internship opportunity for bachelors and masters level social work students who are looking for clinical practice experience with trauma survivors across the lifespan. Interns are provided weekly individual supervision and have frequent opportunities to engage in group supervision and additional training programing. Interns provide support to clients across the lifespan through individual and family therapy.

Non Clinical Internships: Community Health and Well-Being

Community Health and Well-Being offers non-clinical internship opportunities for students interested in health equity, advancing population health, and community engagement that support our mission of improving the health of the communities we serve.  The Community Health and Well Being Internship is open to recent graduates or current graduate students working towards a master's degree in public health, Healthcare Administration, Management or other related degree(s). This unpaid internship will last between 8-12 weeks and offers valuable experience in public health and community engagement.  Interns are assigned a mentor to monitor their experience and will serve to support, assist, contribute and collaborate on activities.
