About

John Marenco, MD, is a Board Certified cardiologist and electrophysiologist who has performed a broad array of arrhythmia procedures performed of both Baystate Medical Center and Mercy Medical Center for over 15 years. Currently, Dr Marenco is the President of Pioneer Valley Cardiology Associates medical practice. He provides office consultation for common electrophysiologic problems such as palpitations, fainting, documented arrhythmias, and need for pacemaker and defibrillator implantation. He interprets a full variety of non-invasive tests including Holter monitor, loop recorders, tilt table testing and both pacemaker and defibrillator interrogations.

Dr Marenco performs several hundred electrophysiologic procedures each year including pacemaker and defibrillator implantations, catheter ablations, electrophysiologic studies, and implantable loop recorder insertions. Upon graduating from Georgetown University School of Medicine and completing a fellowship in both cardiovascular medicine and electrophysiology at Tufts University, Dr Marenco remained with Tufts University School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor and has been a teaching attending physician at Baystate Medical Center since 2002. He has trained over a dozen board-certified electrophysiologist over the years and has been a key part of the teaching program at Baystate Medical Center.

Dr. Marenco was the first person in the region to perform cryo-balloon ablation for atrial fibrillation, currently considered the procedure of choice for treating this common arrhythmia. He began the only lead extraction program in the region for patients who need pacemaker and defibrillator device systems removed and is considered a go-to resource for the most difficult and challenging cases. He has published articles in several peer-reviewed journals and has been an invited speaker at the Heart Rhythm Society National Conference.
