“What’s in Your Neighborhood” Sidewalk Fair to be Held in Hartford
September 25, 2024HARTFORD, Conn. – Community organizations and local businesses in the Asylum Hill and Blue Hills neighborhoods have come together to host “What’s in Your Neighborhood” sidewalk fairs on Saturday, September 28, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The events, initiated by Saint Francis Hospital and Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital, will take place along Asylum Avenue and Woodland Street near Saint Francis and Blue Hills-Tower Ave and Coventry Street near Mount Sinai.
The events are designed for community members to rediscover their neighborhoods, meet community organizations that support well-being, and help residents connect with their neighbors. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore resources and organizations to help live a healthier and better life while also celebrating the surrounding neighborhoods.
Saturday’s event, which is free to the public, will provide various health screenings such as blood pressure, lung cancer screening, mammography appointments, and additional health and wellness opportunities by Trinity Health Of New England healthcare providers; booths from neighborhood organizations and health services; networking opportunities with fellow community members; free food and live entertainment; and fun activities for all ages.
“This event offers a unique opportunity to discover what neighborhood organizations have to offer in the ongoing effort to build vibrant, healthy, and thriving communities in Hartford,” said Carolyn Alessi, Regional Director of Community Health and Well-Being at the Curtis D. Robinson Center for Health Equity, Saint Francis Hospital.
Participating organizations include: Advocacy to Legacy, Asylum Hill Neighborhood Association, Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA), Catholic Charities, Classical Magnet School, Connecticut Public – PBS, EHI Equestrian and Therapeutic Center, HARC-CT, Hartford Federal Credit Union, Hartford Fire Department, Hartford Department of Health and Human Services, InterCommunity Health Care, LEVO International, Mandell JCC, Magic Soul Academy, My People Community Services, Northeast Institute Neighborhood Association (NINA), and Urban League of Greater Hartford.
