WATERBURY, Conn. – Isha Emhoff, M.D., M.P.H., FACS, has been named Chair of Surgery at Saint Mary’s Hospital. A board-certified general surgeon with additional fellowship training in both complex cancer surgery and breast surgery, she has expertise in breast, melanoma, gastrointestinal, and minimally invasive surgery.

Previously, Dr. Emhoff served as Medical Director of Surgical Oncology at Saint Vincent Medical Group and Hospital in Worcester, Massachusetts. In that role, she also acted as the Cancer Liaison Physician to the Commission on Cancer and Chair of the Cancer Committee, demonstrating her leadership in advancing cancer care.

Dr. Emhoff completed a Society of Surgical Oncology Complex Cancer Surgery Fellowship at Brown University, a Breast Fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston and served as Medical Director at the New England Quality Care Alliance, where she played a key role in developing and implementing clinical strategy across the network.

Dr. Emhoff is a Harvard-trained public health expert and published researcher, who focuses on surgical outcomes and breast cancer care. She has held faculty appointments at Harvard Medical School and is active in professional and community health efforts.

Alongside her extensive clinical and administrative experience, Dr. Emhoff is deeply committed to medical education. She has served as a clinical instructor for both residents and medical students and is enthusiastic about continuing to blend clinical practice with teaching and academic engagement.

Prior to her Fellowships at Brown University and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Dr. Emhoff completed her internship and surgical residency at Baystate Medical Center and earned her medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine.
