Saint Mary’s Hospital Breast Center Attains National Accreditation from the American College of Surgeons
October 8, 2026WATERBURY, Conn. – Saint Mary’s Hospital has received accreditation from the American College of Surgeons (ACS) National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) for the fifth time, recognizing the hospital’s continued commitment to providing high-quality, comprehensive breast care through a multidisciplinary approach.

The accreditation acknowledges the Saint Mary’s Breast Center’s dedication to excellence in patient care and outcomes through collaboration among specialists in breast surgery, radiology, pathology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, and plastic surgery.
The accreditation was presented to the Saint Mary’s Breast and Oncology team at the Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center. Representing the program were Beth Sieling, MD, Chair of the Department of Breast Surgery; Caterina Aiello, DO; and Nicole Sookhan, MD, FRCS, FACS.

Programs accredited by the NAPBC follow nationally recognized standards for organizing and managing breast centers and delivering comprehensive breast cancer services. The accreditation focuses on the full spectrum of breast care, including prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, survivorship, and ongoing support.
