Robert Roose, MD, MPH, Named President of Acute Care for Trinity Health Of New England

Robert Roose, MD, MPH, has been named President of Acute Care for Trinity Health Of New England.

In his new role, Dr. Roose will lead the strategic execution and operational direction of Saint Francis Hospital, Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital, Johnson Memorial Hospital and Saint Mary's Hospital, while continuing to support Mercy Medical Center during its planned transition to Baystate Health, pending regulatory approval. 

A physician leader with a broad perspective on health care delivery, Dr. Roose brings a unique combination of clinical expertise, operational experience and deep knowledge of the ministry. Since joining Trinity Health Of New England in 2013, he has held several key leadership positions, including Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Behavioral Health at Mercy Medical Center. During his tenure as Chief Medical Officer, he helped guide the organization through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic while advancing quality and patient care initiatives. 

Most recently, Dr. Roose served as President of Mercy Medical Center, Johnson Memorial Hospital and Saint Mary's Hospital. Under his leadership, these hospitals achieved strong results in patient experience, colleague engagement, quality and safety, including multiple Leapfrog "A" Safety Grades, service line growth and expanded access to care.

Known for his collaborative and people-centered leadership style, Dr. Roose works closely with physicians, nurses and care teams to identify practical solutions, drive meaningful action and support continuous improvement across organizations. His appointment underscores Trinity Health Of New England's focus on strengthening operational performance, enhancing collaboration across the system and positioning the ministry for continued success.
