Fourth Year Visiting Student Electives
Information for Visiting Students
Thank you for your interest in enrolling as a visiting student at Saint Francis Hospital OBGYN Residency Program. We are happy to announce a new stipend for URiM students who would like to apply for a sub-internship at our program. We are currently offering a $1500 housing and transportation stipend for students. This opportunity reflects our long-term drive and commitment to mirror the racial and ethnic diversity of the broader community we serve.
We are accepting visiting students enrolled in U.S. (LCME-approved) medical and osteopathic schools (AOA-approved). Students must apply through the Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) software, to receive visiting student applications.
We are offering two 5-week electives as noted below. Detailed descriptions of each elective will be available on the VSLO website.
Available Electives:
- Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) - Veronica Pimentel, MD
- Gynecology Oncology – Erin Hartnett, MD
Eligibility: Students must be in their fourth year of medical school and in good standing. We are unable to accept requests for a basic (required) clerkship experience in Medicine, Pediatrics, Surgery, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Psychiatry, Family Medicine, or Neurology.
To apply: Complete and submit the URiM stipend application and email to the VSLO Coordinator at sgallagh@trinityhealthofne.org. Please find the application below. The student must also complete the AAMC Visiting Student Learning VSLO application for your preferred elective.
Application cycle: We accept applications starting in March until Mid-July. Visiting Students may not contact the elective directors directly for information regarding electives. Once accepted, you will be contacted by the coordinator for information regarding the elective.
Please have your institution complete the SCHOOL portion of the form and email to the VSLO Coordinator at sgallagh@trinityhealthofne.org
We expect all accepted students to honor this commitment. If a student decides to cancel an accepted elective, it must be dropped in VSLO and the VSLO Primary Contact must be notified via email. We request a minimum of 60 days' notice. If we are not notified and an accepted student does not show up for an elective, the home institution will be notified.
We Require the following documents to be uploaded in VSLO:
- Photograph
- CV/Resume
- Official Transcript
- AAMC Standardized Immunization Form
- USMLE Step 1 Board Scores and/or COMLEX Exam Scores
