Congratulations to Bhamini Patel, a phlebotomist with the Saint Mary’s Hospital Main Lab, for her selection as the Colleague of the Month for May.

Bhamini Patel, Phlebotomist in the Saint Mary’s Hospital Main Lab

Bhamini joined the Saint Mary’s team 15 years ago and consistently keeps patient well-being as the north star in her practice. Her colleagues praise her work, saying she reflects the Trinity Health Of New England Mission and Core Values. The colleague who nominated Bhamini shared in part that she, “serves as a resource to others for knowledge, motivates colleagues to follow proper procedures in the workplace and takes initiative to improve work processes.”

While Bhamini goes above and beyond in the Main Lab every day, a specific instance was noted in her nomination, highlighting her leadership, attention to detail, and innovation.

While preparing for a blood draw, Bhamini escalated a concern that led the care team to initiate a better process for a patient. By speaking up, Bhamini not only was able to stop the line and eliminate a safety risk, but also highlighted a moment of education, leading to a change in practice for nursing and lab colleagues. “I can confidently say that I have always put my patients' safety first and made sure everything was done seamlessly,” she said. “Not only do I love helping people, but I also love working in the surrounding environment. I have never had a day when I didn’t feel like going to work. I am very grateful to receive this award.”
