Nicole Taylor, MD, a Post Grad Year 4 (PGY4) General Surgery Resident at Saint Mary’s Hospital, was awarded a $1,000 scholarship by the Waterbury Medical Association. The award recognizes Dr. Taylor’s dedication to service, academic excellence, and contributions to medical research.

Dr. Taylor is one of four residents selected from the Saint Mary's and Waterbury Hospital residency programs to receive a scholarship. “Your dedication, hard work, and outstanding accomplishments truly set you apart, and we are proud to support your continued journey in medicine,” said Mary Yokose, Executive Director, Waterbury Medical Association. “We believe you have a bright future ahead, and we are honored to be part of it.”
Dr. Taylor has distinguished herself through a strong portfolio of research, including several published projects spanning clinical studies and laboratory work conducted at the University of Connecticut. She also collaborated with attending physicians at Saint Mary’s, including Beth Sieling, MD, Chief, General Surgery, and Nicole Sookhan, MD, FRCS, FACS, in contributing to national conferences and peer-reviewed journals.
“I feel so fortunate that the Waterbury Medical Association supports medical residents,” Dr. Taylor shared. “I am grateful to be given this acknowledgement for the work I’ve done over the past four years.”
The Waterbury Medical Association’s scholarship program aims to support emerging medical professionals who demonstrate excellence and a commitment to serving the community. Dr. Taylor’s achievements reflect the values of the program and the future of surgical innovation and compassionate care.
