The Leapfrog Group hospital safety grades for the Spring 2025 marking period are in and Saint Mary’s Hospital scored an “A.” The Leapfrog Group is an independent nonprofit that prioritizes patient safety in hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers. The Spring 2025 ‘A’ grade from the group represents Saint Mary’s continued commitment to putting patient safety first.

Receiving an "A" grade is not an easy feat as The Leapfrog Group is a national watchdog organization that grades general hospitals across the country on an “A”, “B”, “C”, “D”, and or “F” scale. The score is determined on more than 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries, infections and how well the hospital systems in place work to prevent these incidents from happening.

This is Saint Mary’s fourth “A” grade from the group within the last five marking periods. “We take pride in maintaining a safe environment for all. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring. The hospital ratings program stands as the only one focused on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States.
