Sisters of Saint Joseph of Chambéry Visit Saint Mary's and Saint Francis

The international and local leadership of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Chambéry visited Saint Mary’s Hospital on Wednesday, August 23 and Saint Francis Hospital on Thursday, August 24. These events were part of the official visitation of the Superior General, Sister Dolores Lahr, and Sister Cristina Gavazzi. Sister Dolores, who served Saint Mary’s for several years as its Mission Leader, was elected Superior General of the religious order in December of 2021. Sister Cristina serves with Sister Dolores on the international leadership team in Rome, overseeing over 1,200 of their Sisters across the world.

The Sisters of Saint Joseph of Chambéry founded both Saint Francis and Saint Mary’s Hospitals. Visiting our hospitals was an important part of the Sisters’ official visitation to Connecticut.

They were accompanied by Sister Sally Hodgdon, who serves as the provincial leader of the Connecticut congregation. We are so grateful for their presence and for the pioneering spirit of those early Sisters who founded both our hospitals. During their visit to Saint Francis, the Sisters spent time visiting with colleagues and babies in the NICU, where they marveled at the care provided and paused and prayed for each baby.
