Congratulations to Fr. Donatus Ironuma, Chaplain in the Spiritual Care Department, for his selection as Mercy Medical Center's Colleague of the Month for November.

Fr. Donatus Ironuma, Mercy's Colleague of the Month for November.

The selection for this honor is based on the nominations of fellow colleagues who recognized Fr. Donatus for consistently "exceeding expectations, demonstrating excellence in job performance, and delivering exceptional service."

A Mercy colleague since 2003, Fr. Donatus is known for his kind, friendly demeanor, willingness to help those in need of counsel, and strong commitment to our Core Values. Fr. Donatus makes colleague care a top priority both inside and outside of the hospital as he also now provides spiritual care services to a Carew Street medical practice and the Trinity Health Of New England Medical Group: Springfield practice. In one nomination form, a colleague noted that “his pastoral presence is one that is quiet, with a focus on listening to hear and understand… and then providing a gentle, intentionally unhurried response that gives ease and warmth to all our staff, patients, and families.” For his part, Fr. Donatus displayed the spirit of stewardship when he recently transitioned to a different work schedule and noted, “I love this hospital, our Mission, vision and values and I want to be a part of helping the system I have been a part of for many years thrive and grow.”
