Saint Mary’s Hospital Critical Care Unit (CCU) nurse, Emily O'Connor, has graduated from Sacred Heart University with a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP, FNP) degree. Emily has been a Registered Nurse in Saint Mary’s CCU for five and a half years. She will be transitioning to an Advanced Provider position with Trinity Health Of New England Medical Group in the Critical Care Unit.
Saint Mary's ICU recently celebrated colleague Emily O'Connor who recently earned a DNP degree from Sacred Heart University.
“She is a strong nurse and will be a great liaison and advocate for us and our patients,” said Lisa Ciarlo, RN, BSN, Clinical Manager, CCU, CUV, Respiratory Care Services. “Knowing the unit as she does makes this a great move, as she will give 110% to our patients!”
Emily began her nursing career at Saint Mary’s in 2017 and within a few short years understood her impact on patients and her strong interest in the anticipation of care. “I was always thinking ahead and anticipating what the physicians would need from me,” said Emily. Eager to advance her clinical ability, Emily enrolled in the DNP, FNP program at Sacred Heart University.
Emily is a third-generation nurse, her grandmother and three aunts all worked as nurses at Saint Mary’s Hospital. With her love and desire to stay at Saint Mary’s, she worked with clinical and executive leaders to bring her advanced care expertise to the inpatient unit. “I have a very good rapport with my colleagues, the residents and attendings, I think the transition will be smooth. I feel comfortable enough to ask questions, to learn and grow in this role.”
