Trinity Health Of New England Mobile Healthcare Colleague Receives Life Saving Skills Award
Kelly McDonald was presented with the honor on Friday, January 26, by Chief of Plymouth Volunteer Ambulance Corp, James Dubowsky.

Paramedic Supervisor Kelly McDonald received the Plymouth Volunteer Ambulance Corps Award for her quick thinking and lifesaving skills while at the scene of a cardiac arrest. While serving as the Paramedic Intercept, Kelly responded to a call with Plymouth Ambulance for a patient experiencing chest pain. Once inside the ambulance, the patient went into cardiac arrest and required defibrillation and cardiac medication. The crew was able to regain a pulse and the patient eventually discharged without any long-term deficits.

“I would like to congratulate Kelly and the Plymouth EMS team for their continued commitment and dedication to providing the best patient care,” said Jeff Ganung, Trinity Health Of New England Mobile Health Care, EMS Operations Manager. “This recognition further illustrates the compassion and great working relationships we have with Plymouth EMS as well as the other agencies we work with so closely.”

An EMS colleague with the former Campion Ambulance Service and now Trinity Health Of New England since 2004, Kelly has served as a field supervisor for the last year and a half. In addition to her administrative tasks, Kelly also responds to calls and provides paramedic level care when needed. She is beloved by her staff for her dedication and caring leadership. In August, Kelly received the Unsung Hero Award from the Greater Waterbury Chamber’s Health Care Council.
