“At Mercy Medical Center, patients benefit from our commitment to a comprehensive lung cancer program that includes lung cancer screening, interventional pulmonology, and robotic thoracic surgery – all delivered with a focus on clinical quality and patient safety. We are proud to be recognized by U.S. News & World Report for excellence in lung cancer surgery,” said Robert Roose, M.D., MPH, President of Community Hospitals, Trinity Health Of New England.

A hospital's lung cancer surgery score is based on data such as patient survival rates, recovery at home, number of patients treated, cancer specific hospital accreditation and more. About 4,500 hospitals were evaluated and eligible hospitals received one of three ratings: high performing, as expected or evaluated. Hospitals that earned a high performing rating typically have better patient outcomes compared to other hospitals.
