Congratulations to Mark Sprague, M.D., FAAOS, Chair of the Department of Surgery, Mercy Medical Center, for his selection as a Member of the Month by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) in the category of Active Fellow.

Dr. Sprague was nominated by a colleague who wrote, in part, that he is “exceptionally knowledgeable, patient, willing to teach, and charismatic as a person and surgeon. He is skilled both with patient care and in the operating room. Dr. Sprague is motivating and inspires others to perform their best each day.”

Dr. Sprague joined Trinity Health Of New England Medical Group in 2021 as Medical Director of Ambulatory Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at Mercy’s Orthopedic Care Center. He was named Chair of the Department of Surgery in 2024.

Board-certified in orthopedic surgery, Dr. Sprague specializes in knee and shoulder surgery and his clinical areas of expertise include arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgical techniques. He performs total shoulder and reverse shoulder replacements, rotator cuff surgery, and Labral surgeries. He also performs ligament and meniscal surgeries of the knee.
