Thanks to the generosity of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Springfield Annual Catholic Appeal donors, Mercy Medical Center‘s Healthcare for the Homeless Program has received a financial boost in the form of a grant for $9,650.

The Annual Catholic Appeal targets the Springfield-based program for grant funding.

Healthcare for the Homeless works to identify homeless individuals living in western Massachusetts, assess their needs, offer health and social services, and evaluate the impact of those services. Additionally, Healthcare for the Homeless providers address the medical needs of up to 3,000 patients each year at an interdisciplinary primary care clinic located at the Friends of the Homeless Shelter in Springfield.

Grant funding provided by the Annual Catholic Appeal has supported the Mercy-based program in providing food, clothing, transportation, temporary housing, and assistance with job and housing readiness for more than 1,500 homeless individuals over the past three years.
