Congratulations to Sara Szalkiewicz, BSN, RN, Health Informatics Specialist at Mercy Medical Center, for her selection as a recipient of the “Health Informatics Gives a Hand” (HIGH) Bridge Award.

Mercy's Sara Szalkiewicz, BSN, RN, Health Informatics Specialist.

The award, presented monthly by Health Informatics leaders at Trinity Health, recognizes outstanding informatics efforts by a colleague bridging the gap between technology and our stakeholders.

Sara was honored for embodying Trinity Health’s Core Values while excelling in her informatics work. In one nomination form, a colleague credited Sara for always putting patients at the forefront of decisions and for being “a strong advocate for safety, not only for our patients but also for the colleagues caring for them.” Colleagues also appreciate that when Sara takes on a new project, she sees it through by “navigating any challenges, always going above and beyond to ensure the work is done correctly, acknowledging if she does not know an answer but will strive to find it, and ensuring all aspects are complete and the end user has the knowledge and appropriate resources.” A forward thinker, Sara is also known for providing support to other Informatics colleagues, demonstrating “a work ethic and level of dedication that elevate the entire team.”

For her part, Sara says she is honored to receive the HIGH Bridge Award, and it has special meaning because this recognition comes from her peers.
