Congratulations to Matthew Kisiel, BSN, RN, for his selection as a recipient of the DAISY Award.
Mercy DAISY award recipient Matt Kisiel, BSN,RN.
The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. Nurses are nominated for the DAISY Award by patients, families, and colleagues.
Serving as a nurse in Mercy’s Med/Surg Unit, Matthew is known for always putting his patients first and for being a helpful and compassionate caregiver. In one nomination form, a patient wrote about the attentiveness and kindness Matthew displayed during their interactions, saying “he took the time to speak with us, explaining everything and answering any questions we had.” Appreciative of the care Matthew provided, the patient wrote, “we need more nurses like him.”
The DAISY Award was established in 1999 by members of the family of Patrick Barnes to recognize nurses for the extraordinary care they provide patients and families every day. The Barnes family was awestruck by the clinical skills, caring and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick, so they created this award to say thank you to nurses everywhere.
