William Simis Named as Colleague of the Month at Mercy

William Simis, Building Services Aide at Mercy Medical Center, has been selected as Colleague of the Month for March 2026.

Bill has been recognized as a wonderful addition to the EVS team and contributes far beyond the responsibilities of his role. Bill demonstrates the values of compassion, teamwork, integrity and excellence every single day. His dedication to creating a positive, welcoming environment enhances the experience of staff and patients alike.

Every day, Bill arrives with a genuine smile on his face and a warm “hello” for every person he encounters, whether they are patients, visitors, nurses, providers or fellow EVS team members. His positivity is contagious and “he has an extraordinary ability to brighten our unit simply by being present,” said one nursing leader.

Bill consistently goes out of his way to connect with people, taking time to learn names, build rapport and share meaningful conversations. He listens with sincerity, responds with kindness, and approaches every interaction with respect and empathy. As noted in one nomination form, “Bill exemplifies the spirit, professionalism and heart that makes our hospital a better place for everyone who walks through its doors.”
