Johnson Memorial Hospital has earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country using evidence-based measures of patient safety focused exclusively on errors, accidents, injuries and infections. This is Johnson’s third consecutive “A” safety grade from The Leapfrog Group.

Johnson colleagues celebrate the hospital's third consecutive "A" safety grade from The Leapfrog Group.

“Throughout Johnson Memorial Hospital, our dedicated providers and members of our support staff work as a team to consistently deliver safe, high-quality care to our patients. This third consecutive ‘A’ safety grade ‘three-peat’ is not only a tremendous accomplishment, but it also reflects Johnson’s daily commitment to quality and service excellence,” said Robert Roose, MD, MPH, President of Community Hospitals, Trinity Health Of New England.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.

To celebrate the hospital’s third consecutive “A” safety grade, colleagues were treated to a catered lunch, courtesy of Phil Tartsinis, Board Chair. Colleagues not only enjoyed a delicious meal, but they also posed for photos under a Trinity Health-themed balloon arch and received kudos from hospital and regional leaders. “This special lunch gave us a chance to show colleagues how much we appreciate the work they do to keep our patients safe and have some fun at the same time,” said Lindsey Gamble MSN, RN, Vice President of Patient Care Services and Operations/Chief Nursing Officer. “We are grateful to Phil Tartsinis for his support of our efforts and his strong commitment to Johnson.”
