Two physicians at Johnson Memorial Hospital were selected by the JMH Medical Staff as award recipients at the Medical Staff’s Annual Meeting in October.

Rizwan Ishtiaq, M.D., who serves as a hospitalist at Johnson, received the Emerging Leader Award. This award is presented to a practitioner who is an engaged member of the Johnson Medical Staff and displays a strong commitment to the hospital. A member of the Johnson team since 2021, Dr. Ishtiaq earned his medical degree at Quaid-e-Azam Medical College in Pakistan and completed a residency at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. Board-certified in internal medicine, Dr. Ishtiaq serves as chair of the Administrative Affairs Committee, and is a member of the Medical Executive Committee, the Physician Quality Improvement Committee, and the Quality Committee of the Board. He also serves as Vice President of the Medical Staff.

Olayemi Ajayi-Lamanna, M.D., who serves as Chair of the Department of Surgery at Johnson, received the Provider of the Year Award. This award is presented to a practitioner who best represents Johnson to the community, is active in leadership, and supports the principles of Trinity Health. A member of the Johnson team since 2021, Dr. Ajayi earned her medical degree at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington, where she also completed a residency. She serves as Co-chair of the Perioperative Committee, and is a member of the Medical Executive Committee, Physician Quality Improvement Committee, and the Board of Directors.
