Congratulations to Ann Marie Murphy, RN, for her selection as Johnson Memorial Hospital’s most recent recipient of the DAISY Award.
DAISY Award recipient Ann Marie Murphy, RN.
The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. Nurses are nominated for the DAISY Award by patients, families, and colleagues.
Serving as a medical oncology nurse in Johnson’s Karen Davis Krzynowek Cancer Center in Enfield, Ann Marie is known for providing individualized care with a gentle touch, while also keeping her patients at the center of everything she does. In one nomination form, a patient noted that Ann Marie “is patient, takes plenty of time, and puts all her patients at ease. She listens…really listens and is attentive to side effects and concerns.” The patient was also appreciative of Ann Marie’s capable and professional bedside manner, writing “I was so scared to have chemo, but Ann Marie was my rock, my guide, my comfort.”
The DAISY Award was established in 1999 by members of the family of Patrick Barnes to recognize nurses for the extraordinary care they provide patients and families every day. The Barnes family was awestruck by the clinical skills, caring and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick, so they created this award to say thank you to nurses everywhere.
