Saint Francis Announces Colleague of the Month Winner

Amy Goncalves, Intake Specialist at the Cancer Center, was selected as the August 2023 Colleague of the Month for Saint Francis.

Maria “Amy” Goncalves, Intake Specialist at the Cancer Center, has been selected as the August 2023 Colleague of the Month at Saint Francis. Amy is being recognized for her commitment to her colleagues, her team, and the Trinity Health Of New England Mission.

Amy, who celebrated 40 years with Saint Francis in September, has been with the Cancer Center for seven years, the last four as the Intake Specialist. Regardless of what provider or location the patient is referred to, Amy is the first to interact with them. One of Amy’s multiple nominations said, “I have spoken to dozens of patients who all comment on her professionalism, calming and empathetic nature, and reassuring demeanor.”

One of those patients said, “Healthcare is often treated like every other business, but Amy really made me feel special and well taken care of. I was having trouble getting referred and I was nervous, but she went above and beyond to follow up and check in with me until I received my appointment. She is a star!”

Another colleague concluded Amy’s nomination by saying, “Amy is the coworker you can always count on to get things done efficiently and with a smile. At the end of the day, every patient that Amy touches is met with a comforting word and compassionate manner.”
