Maire Weathers, PT, MPT, was presented with the 2023 Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Clinical Excellence Award.

Maire Weathers, PT, MPT, was named the 2023 winner of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Clinical Excellence Award. This peer-nominated award is presented annually by Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation department leaders to a rehabilitation clinician who is an exceptional reflection of clinical and professional excellence in their given rehabilitation discipline.

Maire, who has been a physical therapist for 29 years and has been with the acute care rehabilitation team at Saint Francis for 10 years, was described as “an experienced therapist who others rely on as a teacher and a mentor.” She has put together numerous guides and informational material that is used in the training of new colleagues and is known in the department as a go-to resource.

In her nomination, it was noted that Maire “often provides informal nursing education in her day-to-day practice and consistently uses her years of experience to ensure best practice for all patients. She pays careful attention to detail and takes the time to explain her practices so that others can learn from her experience.”

It was also noted in her nomination that “although an experienced clinician and mentor to others, Maire continues her professional growth by always asking questions and welcoming new methods from others. Any new knowledge is then shared with the team. She is a steady resource and is well-deserving of this award.”
