Mount Sinai Goes One Year Needlestick Free
Mount Sinai celebrated 365 days of being needlestick free.

Congratulations to Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital colleagues, who celebrated 365 days being needlestick free! Situational awareness, diligence, and a commitment to the Trinity Health Of New England Core Value of Safety helped the team reach this significant milestone.

Mount Sinai leaders express their gratitude to the nursing team, including Erika Coffey, RN, Nurse Manager; Latoya March, RN, Senior Clinical Advisor; and Lili Rosa-Marasiotis, RN, Nurse Educator, for placing a focus on workplace safety. Leaders accredit this milestone achievement to the collaboration and support of the entire interdisciplinary team including Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathologists, all clinical providers, and Environmental Services (EVS) colleagues.

“I am incredibly proud of our entire team for this achievement,” said Steve Kunsman, Executive Director of Mount Sinai. “It is due to the collaborative work of all members of the rehabilitation team and signifies a commitment to quality and safety within the organization. My gratitude goes to our clinical leaders and their teams for their dedication to our Core Value of Safety, not only for our patients, but for each other.”

“As healthcare workers, we dedicate our careers to preserving lives, and our own lives need to be a part of that,” said Jennifer Smith, RN, Director of Nursing Services. “The Mount Sinai team has worked together to instill a culture of safety when it comes to needlestick safety and prevention. I am beyond proud of the mentoring, education, and leadership from the nursing team and the efforts of all of our colleagues, clinical and non-clinical. An entire year of being needlestick free is a tremendous accomplishment!”
