Dr. Sudhanshu Mulay received his Outstanding Physician Award at the 6th Annual New England Hematological Diseases Symposium.

Sudhanshu Mulay, M.B.B.S., a hematologist-oncologist at Saint Francis Hospital, recently received the Outstanding Physician Award from Lea’s Foundation for Leukemia Research at the 6th Annual New England Hematological Diseases Symposium. The award recognizes a physician who provides compassionate patient care and outstanding leadership in building a world-class hematology program.

Dr. Mulay serves as the Medical Director of the Saint Francis Anticoagulation Service and the Site Director of the Hematology-Oncology Fellowship Program. He also works with the Pulmonary Embolism Response Team (PERT).

Lea’s Foundation for Leukemia Research, based in Bloomfield, was formed in 1998 to honor the memory of Lea Michele Economos, who was diagnosed with leukemia at the young age of 18, and subsequently lost her battle when she was 28 years old. Lea’s Foundation raises money to fund research into the causes and cures for leukemia and related cancers, with all of the money raised staying in Connecticut. The Foundation also provides limited financial assistance to patients and provides increased public awareness through participation and support of community health care programs.
