Liberty Bank Foundation has awarded Saint Francis Hospital a grant to support the “It Starts Here: Exploring Career Pathways in Healthcare” program. The program, which is one of the workforce equity strategies at Trinity Health Of New England, is designed to offer local high school students from underrepresented backgrounds insights into various healthcare professions, acquire essential skills, and explore potential career paths.

The half-day visit includes a breakfast meet and greet with members of the Executive Leadership Team as well as hearing from Volunteer Services and Talent Acquisition, where they discuss current opportunities students can participate in while in high school and post-graduation. The students are then led on a on a guided tour of several identified departments they have specifically demonstrated having an interest in. The tour is followed by lunch and a healthcare panel discussion consisting of several Saint Francis colleagues.

This experience allows for students to gain knowledge and a broader approach to careers in healthcare, both clinical and non-clinical. The program also provides them with valuable opportunities for learning, growth, and networking within the healthcare field.
