The emergency medical services (EMS) workforce has long been dominated by men. According to the National Institutes of Health, nearly 69 percent of EMS workers are men and about 31percent are women, however this trend is improving. The national statistic is reflected at Trinity Health Of New England Mobile Healthcare, with 55 women colleagues comprising about 30 percent of the workforce.
Dave Koscuk, President, Trinity Health Of New England Mobile Healthcare states that Trinity Health Of New England Mobile Healthcare is grateful to employ such a high percentage of women on their team.
“EMS has always been a male dominated field,” said Koscuk. “I’m proud that a substantial number of our colleagues are women, they bring a unique and an important perspective to the job.”
The first International Women’s Day was held in March 1911. It is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. The theme for 2024 is “Inspire Inclusion.” It involves the work of inspiring others to understand and value the inclusion of women in all aspects of life and society.
