The Saint Mary’s Hospital Foundation Golf Invitational, held on June 10, was a huge success. Eighty golfers hit the links at Chippanee Golf Club to help raise more than $100,000 in support of the Campus Beautification Program. We are grateful to Title Sponsor and Hole-in-One donor, Blasius Chevrolet; Champion Sponsor, The Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center; and Club Sponsors - Collins Medical Associates 2, P.C., Naugatuck Valley Radiology Associates, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics & Spine Specialists, P.C., O & G Industries, Inc., Sterling Security Systems, and Unitex Textile Rental Services.
The players, including Waterbury Mayor Paul Pernerewski and his Chief of Staff Joe Geary, started with lunch on the patio, where Steve Schneider, M.D., former President of Saint Mary’s Hospital and Robert Gumbardo, M.D., welcomed and thanked the guests. A nicely paced 18 holes included spirit tastings from Litchfield Distillery, and the day concluded with dinner and a short speaking program.
Foundation Board Member Greg Oneglia generously donated a foursome for Saint Mary’s nurses to participate. The group included Deb Cram, Karen Brown, Sharon Lescadre, and Lisa Golymbieski. The Philanthropy department would like to extend a special Thank You to event volunteers, Vicky Cipriano, Robin Sills, Rich Spierto, Travis Raboin, Martin Gelinas, and Amy and Stuart Mikolite.
