During the month of March, nationally recognized as MS Awareness Month, our Multiple Sclerosis (MS) care teams across Trinity Health Of New England wore orange to raise awareness of the disease and honor our MS patients. An MS diagnosis can be daunting and overwhelming for a patient and requires a multi-disciplinary approach to care to make sure all the patient’s needs are met. This is critical to treating the disease and preventing it from progressing, but also treating the symptoms in a multi-pronged way to ultimately improve a patient’s quality of life.
Our MS teams support innovation and the future state of treatment which are key to providing the highest level of MS care. Our researchers are working to improve everyday life and functionality, leading to a higher overall quality of life for patients with MS. Our clinicians collaborate with our on-site and partnership research teams which allows them to increase the speed at which groundbreaking academic studies are conducted and the findings implemented. This research impacts and improves the quality of care we provide for patients.
We are proud of the work of our Joyce D. and Andrew J. Mandell Centers for Comprehensive Multiple Sclerosis Care and Neuroscience Research and our comprehensive care model in each of our three locations: Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital in Hartford, Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, and Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, Mass.
In the coming months, the MS teams across the region will be participating in various MS Awareness walks. All colleagues are inviting join any of the following:
