Your Stories: Members of the Saint Francis Phlebotomy Team Receive Degrees

Five phlebotomists from Collaborative Lab Services at Saint Francis Hospital recently graduated with bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
Congratulations to:
• Justin Burchell, phlebotomist since 2022 – Earned Bachelor of Science from the University of Connecticut, accepted to nursing school.
• Lovis Gordon, phlebotomist since 2023 – Earned associate degree in HIT/Medical Coding from Northwestern Community College.
• Saima Khan, phlebotomist since 2018 – Earned master’s degree in occupational therapy from American International College.
• Danielle Newbold, phlebotomist since 2021 – Earned bachelor’s degree in nursing from Central Connecticut State University and will be joining the nursing staff at Saint Francis.
• Yvonne Reyes, phlebotomist since 2016 – Earned associate degree in nursing from Capital Community College.
“This is a proud moment for our team as we see our colleagues moving up the ladder and accomplishing bigger and better things,” said Nirav Rajpura, Supervisor of Clinical Services, Specimen Processing/Inpatient Phlebotomy. “These colleagues have been a great asset to our team and are excellent at what they do.”
Team member Jackie Correia went above and beyond to celebrate the success and recognize the hard work of her colleagues. Special thanks to Jackie for her selfless appreciation and recognition of her colleagues.
