Trinity Health Of New England is pleased to announce Tarek Helmy, MD, FACC, MSCAI, has been named Regional Chair for the Department of Cardiology. In this role, Dr. Helmy will provide expertise to patients in need of a variety of cardiovascular conditions while also overseeing the operations of cardiovascular services across the region to ensure high-quality patient care and standards of excellence.
Tarek Helmy, MD, FACC, MSCAI, has been named Regional Chair for the Department of Cardiology at Trinity Health Of New England.
Dr. Helmy specializes in complex coronary intervention, Chronic Total Occlusion (CTO), and structural heart disease. Prior to joining Trinity Health Of New England, Dr. Helmy served as a professor and Chief of Cardiology at Louisiana State University Health Shreveport School of Medicine and co-director of the Heart & Vascular Institute at Ochsner-LSU Health Science Center. He previously served as the Director of the J. Gerard Mudd cardiac catheterization laboratory and Director of the Cardiology Fellowship Program at Saint Louis School of Medicine.
Dr. Helmy received his medical degree from Cairo University in Egypt. He completed a residency and Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Texas Medical Branch and an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at New England Medical Center at Tufts University. He is a Master of the Society of Coronary Angiography and Intervention and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.
