Colleagues from the Trinity Health Of New England Podiatric Department are proud to partner with Footwear with Care, a local nonprofit that serves homeless and unstably housed individuals in Hartford. Founded in 2016 by Abby Sullivan Moore, Footwear with Care provides walking shoes and boots, medical exams and other support to homeless adults and children in Hartford.

For the last 10 years, Podiatric Residents from Trinity Health Of New England have been working alongside local podiatrists to provide foot exams, referrals to local clinics and emergency departments as needed, shoe fittings and inserts. Lynn LeBlanc, DPM, serves as the Podiatric Coordinator for Footwear with Care, while Rafael Gonzalez, DPM, Surgical Residency Director, guides the Podiatric Residents.
Footwear with Care events are held twice a year and serve 250-300 individuals at each event. Along with everyday shoes and boots, the organization helps homeless people secure and keep jobs by providing steel-toed boots, non-slip kitchen shoes and dress footwear. Footwear with Care is powered by a large and dedicated group of volunteers from throughout the greater Hartford area and is supported by donations from individuals, businesses, churches, schools and grants from foundations.
