On Saturday, March 15, Trinity Health Of New England proudly participated in the Black Family Wellness Expo held at The Artists Collective in Hartford. Hosted by the Farmington Valley and Greater Hartford Chapters of The Links, Incorporated, this vibrant community event provided vital health resources, screening, and educational opportunities to empower Black families in prioritizing their well-being.

Trinity Health Of New England colleagues represented several service lines at the Black Family Wellness Expo.

As a key partner in the expo, Trinity Health Of New England helped advance the event’s mission by offering free health screenings and wellness education. Attendees had access to heart health checks, diabetes screenings, and cancer awareness resources. With a commitment to holistic health, Trinity Health Of New England also facilitated discussions on mental health support, chronic disease prevention, and the importance of integrating nutrition into daily life.

“I had several people come up to our table looking for doctors and asking about specific practices,” said Don Cooper, Business Service Representative, Rheumatology.

Beyond health screening, the event featured interactive wellness activities including yoga, martial arts, line dancing, and Double Dutch, creating a fun and engaging atmosphere for families. Attendees also had access to financial literacy workshops, workforce development resources, and civic engagement initiatives, ensuring a comprehensive approach to health and stability.

In holiday spirit, Trinity Health Of New England colleagues and volunteers were easy to spot in green, making it simple for attendees to identify event participants and connect with health professionals.

Saint Francis Hospital played a vital role in the event’s success. Representatives provided education on disease management, caregiver support, and available community resources, reinforcing Trinity Health Of New England’s commitment to bridging gaps in healthcare access and equity.

The Black Family Wellness Expo underscored the power of community collaboration, bringing together organizations such as UConn Health Disparities Institute, City Of Hartford Health and Human Services, and Eversource, among many others.

Trinity Health Of New England remains dedicated to its mission of advancing health equity and fostering wellness through continued outreach and partnerships. The event not only provided essential health resources but also left a lasting impression on those who attended. Thank you to all who attended and contributed to making the event a success. Together we are building a healthier, stronger community!
