Trinity Health Of New England was seeing red on Friday, February 6, as colleagues across the region joined in marking National Wear Red Day. Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States, affecting people of every race, ethnicity, gender and age, and has held that distinction since 1950. Team members across all markets proudly wore their brightest reds to show support, with many gathering for group photos at their local sites.

Colleagues from Saint Francis Hospital joined colleagues from around Trinity Health Of New England in Wear Red awareness events on February 6.

Observed each year on the first Friday of February, National Wear Red Day encourages people across the country to wear red in a unified effort to raise awareness and inspire action to help end heart disease and stroke in women. The initiative is championed by the American Heart Association and takes place in conjunction with National Heart Month.

Heart disease claims the lives of one in three women each year. The hopeful news: an estimated 87% of heart issues are preventable, underscoring the importance of awareness, education, research and access to resources.
