One of Trinity Health Of New England’s Core Values is Safety. As a health care ministry, the organization embraces a culture that prevents harm and nurtures a healing, safe environment for all. At Saint Mary’s, like all the ministry’s facilities, patient safety is always a top priority.

Although colleagues do a great job of ensuring this at all times, during Patient Safety Awareness Week, Saint Mary’s Safety, Quality & Performance Improvement team brought a more focused message directly to the clinical units, specific to the National Patient Safety Goals per Joint Commission.

This year the team highlighted:

  1. Identifying patients correctly.
  2. Improving communication.
  3. Using alarms safely.
  4. Fall Prevention.

This Patient Safety Awareness Week initiative exemplifies Saint Mary’s commitment to putting patients first. Following back-to-back Leapfrog Safety Grade A recognitions, Saint Mary’s is focused on upholding this high-quality standard of care.
