Saint Mary’s Colleague Thank You Event

In August, Saint Mary’s colleague’s unwavering dedication and resilience were put to the test yet again. While Saint Mary’s Hospital wasn’t the target of the cybersecurity breach at Waterbury Hospital early in the month, the fallout from that incident had a profound impact on operations. It resulted in a significant increase in patient volume in the emergency department, inpatient units, and outpatient services. However, in keeping with the Saint Mary’s family-oriented culture, colleagues from all departments exemplified Trinity Health’s core values and mission to be a transformative healing presence in our community. Colleagues rose to the challenge, staying late or coming in early to cover additional shifts and provide help where they were needed, even if that meant working in another department. Working together, the entire Saint Mary’s team went above and beyond to ensure the continued delivery of high-quality care for patients despite the external difficulties. Executive leaders took notice of extraordinary efforts colleagues put forth and wanted to offer their heartfelt gratitude.

Over the past few weeks, Leaders have been expressing their appreciation in various small ways, such as providing meals to different departments and units. To culminate this show of gratitude, they arranged for a visit from the La Tavola Pizza truck on Thursday, September 28. The truck was on-site to serve all colleagues from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Additionally, pizzas were prepared for overnight shifts.

Luncheons are being organized for the offsite locations during the month of October.
