Colleagues and leaders gathered early on the morning of June 4 to celebrate the reopening of Xavier 3 with an internal ribbon cutting ceremony. Upgrades to the medical oncology began in 2022 and included much needed maintenance work, with the major focus on the replacement of the air handling unit. With approval from the Department of Public Health to reopen the unit, plans were initiated to safely relocate patients from their temporary home on Sacred Heart 5 to the newly renovated Xavier 3.

Xavier 3 Colleagues

Staff from Xavier 3 celebrate the reopening of their unit with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, June 4.

In addition to the installation of a new air handling unit, Xavier 3 underwent a full refresh, with new paint, reorganization of patient rooms, and several logistical changes to make it more efficient for colleagues on the unit to perform their roles. Some of the upgrades include enhanced supply rooms, a dedicated space for care managers and nursing educators, and lastly an improved staff lounge.

With updates to Xavier 3 complete, improvement and upgrades will now begin on Sacred Heart 5, including maintenance and cleaning projects.
