Nicole A. Taylor, MD, and Tiang Sheng Ng, MD, earned second place in the 2026 American College of Surgeons Surgical Jeopardy Competition.

Tian Sheng Ng, MD, and Nicole A. Taylor, MD, brought national recognition to Saint Mary’s Hospital after earning second place in the 2026 American College of Surgeons (ACS) Surgical Jeopardy Competition. The competition was a part of the ACS Clinical Congress in Washington, D.C., over the weekend of September 28 and 29.

Selected to represent Saint Mary’s at the highly competitive national event, Drs. Ng and Taylor competed against residents from surgical residency programs across the country. The Jeopardy-style game was designed to showcase residency programs' surgical knowledge and promote teamwork and friendly competition.

“It was a great opportunity for both of us to attend ACS, also our first time,” said Dr. Ng. “It was an intense match, and our competitors came in fully prepared too. It is an honor to join forces with Nicole! Thanks for the full support from the department and fellow residents.”

Dr. Taylor reflected on the experience and partnership, saying, “I feel honored to have been able to represent Saint Mary's in a sea of tough competition. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to be a finalist, but I am even more grateful to do it alongside my best friend and co-resident Tian.”

The pair competed against 35 teams spanning two days. Their second-place accomplishment highlights the strength of Saint Mary’s surgical residency program and the faculty who support resident development every day.

“This recognition reflects the strength of our residency program and reinforces what we know to be true: Saint Mary's Hospital continues to educate and train exceptional surgeons capable of competing at the highest levels nationally,” said Isha Emhoff, MD, MPH, FACS, Chair of Surgery.

Congratulations to Drs. Ng and Taylor!
