The Farmingbury Women’s Club marked Breast Cancer Awareness Month with its annual Breast Cancer Awareness Event on October 1, bringing community members together to honor survivors, caregivers, and the fight against breast cancer.

Nicole Sookhan, MD, attends the Farmingbury Breast Cancer Awareness tree lighting ceremony.

The event's centerpiece was the Tree of Hope, decorated with pink ribbons. It will be illuminated and on display throughout October, serving as a symbol of hope, strength and resilience for those affected by breast cancer.

The event also featured a presentation by Nicole Sookhan, MD, FRCS, FACS, a board-certified surgical oncologist with Saint Mary’s Hospital. Dr. Sookhan spoke about the latest advances in breast cancer care, highlighting progress in screening, diagnosis, treatment and personalized care while offering encouragement to patients and families.

The annual gathering reflects the Farmingbury Women’s Club’s ongoing commitment to education, advocacy and support for those impacted by breast cancer, emphasizing the importance of early detection and access to quality care.
