This year’s campaign theme, “Make Someone’s Moment,” emphasizes the importance of creating meaningful change through everyday acts of kindness. The breakfast welcomed donors, volunteers, partner agencies, corporate sponsors, town officials, and residents from the Greater Waterbury region. Attendees were invited to learn more about the campaign’s goals, impact, and opportunities to get involved.
“It may seem like a simple act, but it’s more than that," said Husnain Kermalli, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Saint Mary's. "When communities come together to help those in need, the impact is greater than we can imagine. At Saint Mary’s, one of our Core Values is a commitment to those experiencing poverty. Bringing the spirit of United Way into our hospital doors, that’s what compassionate care truly looks like.”
In support of local shelter partners, attendees were encouraged to donate new twin size sheets, bedding, and pillowcases to benefit individuals transitioning into housing. These items were collected onsite and sorted by volunteers for distribution, reinforcing the campaign’s commitment to meeting immediate community needs.
