Your Stories: Saint Mary’s Honors Nurse Residents at Graduation Ceremony

On August 6, Saint Mary’s Hospital held a graduation ceremony to recognize the hard work of eight registered nurses who completed the hospital’s one-year Nurse Residency Program (NRP).

Shawna Edwards, RN, MSN, DNP, Chief Nursing Officer; Lisa Roy, RN, NPD-BC, BCEN, DNP, Manager of Nursing Professional Practice; and Roxanne Tapley, DNP, RN, Nurse Residency Program Coordinator, joined managers, hospital colleagues and graduates’ families to celebrate this important milestone in the nurses’ professional journeys.
Megan Mayeux, DHML, BCC, Mission Leader, opened the ceremony with a graduation blessing and reflection. Amy Mickolite, Chaplain, offered words of encouragement and blessed both the graduates’ pins and their hands as they continue their nursing careers.
Graduates Sae-Shaun Lee, RN, O’Brien 7, and Kelly Poulin, RN, Critical Care, received Perfect Attendance Awards in recognition of their commitment to the program. Poulin also delivered the class address, reflecting on the experiences and achievements of the graduating cohort.
The ceremony concluded with nurses and nursing students standing together to recite “A Nurse’s Prayer.” Following the graduation ceremony, the graduates presented their evidence-based practice projects, showcasing the knowledge and skills they developed throughout the program.
